Don’t be a falling star
without a wish
Don’t pull the rug out
from under someone
and call it musical chairs
Hide a rhyme
Break into a poem
Spend time in the dark room
to develop your life
Save the Sunday ashes
of your burned down house
Dig deeper
Plant an idea
Don’t paint soup cans
Don’t rehearse
Don’t buy Boardwalk
It’s over rated
And Baltic Ave
is too cheap

It is so important not to be influenced by negative people and happenings when life is so good.

Fine work, CR. The Monopoly references are a good close, and I esp like the musical chairs admonition. You rock, as always. salute.

I like the dos of this poem, better than the don’ts, especially the do of hiding in the dark room to develop one’s life. Poetry happens that way—at least for me.

some good advice here. like spending time in the dark room to develop your life.
painting soup cans can be profitable (perhaps for a certain person), but not too sure for the rest of us.

I couldn’t agree more, particularly when it comes to the idea of allowing ourselves to be dreamy enough to let a child show us things we might think too foolish for reality.
Also, I really like the form.

We could all do with a lot more play time. I think I’ve dreamed about taking an afternoon off and spending it in a cushion fort at least twice today.
