13: Listen
1. THIS is the poem I read when listeners need a break from my poems from the darkroom that are emotional.
2. These are some of the poems that might need that antidote.
3. This is a tattoo I saw at the Little River Poetry Festival.
4. At one point during my poetry reading, I stopped to ask Joe for my camera so I could take a picture of the audience from my view onstage. “I don’t want to forget your beautiful faces,” I said.
5. Listen and silent are the same word with the letters moved around.
6. When strippers win Grammys / And rappers praise their crotches / You wonder what it will be like / to be put out to pasture – Read When You Come Full Circle in its entirety HERE.
7. Am I the only one who has noticed that most of the young news anchormen have white streaks of highlight in their hair now? Am I the only one that watches the news?
8. I recently came across this nursery rhyme I wrote for myself: Colleen Ann joined a band / She played a drum with her thumb / and sang Sgt. Pepper at the top of her lung.
9. I’ll never look at #9 the same after the Beatles.
10. I wasn’t happy with #8 though, because I used Sgt. Pepper as a placeholder because it had the right amount of syllables but I think there is a better signature song I would be loudly singing but can’t think what it is
11. When bells and whistles / replace on and off switches / you wait for bluebirds / instead of buses – See HERE.
12. When I was 13 and my hair went white in a streak on the left side of my head, my mother took me to the doctor and, all he said was ‘people pay good money to do that with their hair.’ I guess he was right, but I didn’t buy it then because my eyebrow and eyelashes on one side also turned white. HERE is a poem about that.

I watched the video. So heartfelt and beautifully written. “Every tear is a seed for new ground.” There have been a lot of tears! Also, went to the YouTube video for the antidote. 🙂

Did your hair really turn white when you were that young? Wow. That’s major trauma.

Just on the left side in a streak. It’s called segmental vitiligo when it is on one side and continues to lose pigment for only about 6 months.
