13: This Much
1. Here’s a cool way to spell my sisters who are coming to visit this month: Trisherry.
2. The hoppier the beer, the happier I am.
3. I’m a poem that knows / what it doesn’t know / that doesn’t claim / to be your favorite / I’m the girl next door / who you know without talking to / with dog eared corners / and a streak of blue – Read in its entirety HERE.
4. I love blue HERE.
5. When it comes to love 1 + 1 often equals 3.
6. When I was a little girl and my dad asked me how much I loved him, I answered, “I love you 60!” It was the biggest number I knew.
7. And now I’m older than 60.
8. THIS is the essay I wrote about my father, which aired on WVTF Public Radio for Memorial Day on Friday, May 27, 2005.
9. The Battle of the Bulge is not about a diet. My dad actually fought in it.
10. “I defend my competence, slender as it is, by sitting up here on the 12th floor out of range of ticks that carry bacteria that can fog your brain. You hike the Adirondacks and a week later you’re unable to spell “cat.” I stay home. There are excellent picture books about the Adirondacks and a person needn’t go see it firsthand any more than you need to be marched to the gallows to see what that’s like. Just read In Cold Blood.” – Garrison Keillor
11. I approach getting older with a curiosity and as a practice of being where one is. I don’t struggle to be better or more. I value direct experience and questioning what I thought I knew. Slowly, I allow myself be touched and changed. To accept. I wait for the smallest sparks of interest and follow them. Sometimes it’s that simple. – More from my blog post From Start to Finish HERE.
12. One of THESE things is not like the other.
13. Using a little too much force to get my point across is an improvement on cutting myself HERE.
