Floyd’s Fourth Fireworks and Fun
-The following first appeared in The Floyd Press on July 8, 2021 and Floyd Press online HERE.
A community celebration, sponsored by Floyd’s Merchant’s and Businessmen’s Association, took place at Floyd County High School. In the early evening, people faced their lawn chairs towards building where live music was being performed.
The line to the bounce house was long.
A young girl dressed in red, white and blue munched on the last of a hotdog.
Floyd County High School cheerleaders staffed a food booth.
The Morales family stuck together. Julio Morales (pictured in a Buffalos sweatshirt) said it was his 29th time attending the Floyd fireworks.
Mary and David Wiley gladly accepted their free cotton candy from Steve Bunn, one of the volunteers manning the Floyd Democrats booth.
Shirley and Doug Philips caught up with friends before the fireworks started.
The snow cone booth was popular.
Buffalo Booster Club members sold sports merchandise.
The Cooper Family from the Indian Valley Church of God was one of the live bands that entertained.
The fireworks brought Oohs and Ahhs from the crowd.
And the finale didn’t disappoint.
