Floydfest Space Odyssey Thursday’s Launch
This Floydfest On the Rise band hails from Charlottesville. They play all originals, solid danceable rhythm/blues/rock/pop. Yesterday they played in the Garden on the Pink Floyd Stage and I keep thinking, ‘Now this is music!’
Sex Bruise is a satirical pop band from Charleston, SC that knows how to improv and create a party atmosphere. That’s a leaf blower, not a chainsaw.
Another Floydfest On the Rise band is Floyd’s own Music Road Co, who raised the dance vibrations in the Dechutes Libation Tent. I spotted some familiar faces!
This has been my favorite song next to Wagon Wheel, but the band has some new songs that are on the top of my list now too!
Like this one, a song about about going to Walmart in Wytheville to get a Covid shot and other topical stuff.
This is not even the best clipped song but I couldn’t get close (up in the photographer’s pit) even with a Media and Photo laminate. I think because of COVID some bands are taking extra precautions. The light show was fantastic and put a perfect touch on the transcendent sounds that filled the air.
Look for a story and photo spread in this week’s Floyd Press.
