Picasso’s Moon
A stroke of genius
on a live canvas
A tilted smile
in a metaphoric portrait
A curved nude
in a side-view
posed for the muse’s
changing mood

An intriguing poem which certainly conjures up images. It made me want to see the painting which must have inspired it, but when I Googled I was presented with a plethora of images, none of which seemed to be exactly what you describe.

I too attempted to find the artwork! Then again, perhaps this is an example of poetic license and there isn’t one! I enjoyed the poem, and imagining what it described.

We should all be proud of the way we see the world and our lives How awful it would be if we were all the same.

“Live canvas” and “metaphoric portrait”… great terms and “muse’s changing mood” … I never thought of that but sometimes right in the middle of a sentence.

It’s the July crescent moon, turning front view now. It looked like at tilted disembodied smile that reminded me of some of Picasso’s simple strokes.

No explanation required for me, CR. I dig it, but I guess I was born a Moonie, so….
Beautiful, spare work!

I’m delighted by the idea of a nude model being a metaphor. For what, I wonder. Endless possibilities!

Moongazing leads our minds to surprising places!

There’s something fun about the line breaks and phrases you’ve created that feels like they go well with Picasso’s unorthodox (for his time) take on his subjects.

I love the rhythm of this one, and what it says about the surreal (and personal) nature of human perception. We all see the world in our own way, every glimpsed laced with more than a touch of our experiences (and moods). And I think that’s a very good thing.

On my 80th birthday, I am asking my daughter to snap a tasteful, artfully posed, bits of me draped … in the nude photo. For posterity …… I love your poem, Colleen.

I married someone with a tilted smile but I never associated her smile with the moon. Now you’ve given me something to look for – hmmm
