Retirement Party for Pat Sharkey

Friends, colleagues and business owners turned-out for Pat Sharkey’s retirement party Friday, July 30, at the Jessie Peterman Library to celebrate Pat and her achievements during her eight-year tenure as Floyd’s first tourism director.
Sharkey is pictured here with Bell Gallery & Garden business owners Joanne and Bill Bell at her retirement celebration. Joanne Bell has been on the tourism board from early on in the department’s formation in 2013.

Great cake! It’s a shame to lose a tourism director and especially being the first. Looks like she did good for the community. Surrounded by natural beauty, your posts have shown how rich in culture and family friendly events the Floyd area truly is.

She’s not actually retiring completely, just from that job. In the past she’s been an amazing maker/designer of jewelry.
