We’re Deadicated!

These are my people.

There’s a reason why dancing to The Kind at the Pine has been a Halloween tradition in Floyd for decades. We all love the music (lots of Grateful Dead), love to dance and no one has more fun.

I thought Wendy was Tigger from Winnie the Pooh and Rick (on drums) was Wayne from Wayne’s World, but I learned they were Calvin and Hobbs (not sure who is who).

We see each other year after year and it really is like family.
I didn’t really fool anyone about who I was under the mask but my friend Holly as Keef Richards (I’m still alive) did.

I never said “the devil made me do it” once all night, but I did say to Joe, ‘this is like my church,” and then thought it odd that I was dressed as the devil, no relation.

No one holds back. I’m pretty sure we were ‘woo wooing’ to Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London here.

My friend Mara has a friend with sticky fingers.

See what I mean?
The Costume Contest, a big highlight of the night with big cash prizes, has become more of a talent show!
See what I mean? These were some of the auditions.

This group of friends that came up for the costume contest were inspired by their friend Keith and The Big Lebowski.

This stunt was all going well until Holly (also known as Keef’s softer side) mistakenly spilled some beer down the back of this guy’s neck.
The music was awesome. Everyone danced and sang along to their favorites as if their lives depended on it, as if we had been locked up for a year or so. Sweet Virginia was a surprise (not sung by our Keef), Dear Prudence, Zevon’s Werewolves, Eyes of the World, Dark Star into Franklin’s Tower, and this opener of Scarlet Begonia (with the all the dead-icated dancers shown). I’m still trying to figure out what Tom’s shirt says.
They closed with the ultimate sweet Ripple but were called back to raise the dead-icated one last time with Good Lovin.’

Let there be songs to fill the air. Till next year. Check out some shots from last year HERE.
