Making a poem
Is like looking for an opening
then picking at a splinter
you don’t know how you got
It’s like telling a secret
without naming names
like saving a life
you know is worth living

Poems are lifesavers, for sure! Keep writing poems. Keep saving lives.

Making a poem is when words drift into your head in the middle of the night! I like the words that drift your way!

Making a poem is so many things: an ink tune that refuses to go away, that grows when written and read and shared…
…and definitely “like saving a life / you know is worth living”.
I love that last bit.

I. Love. This.
LOL, I feel all of this, from beginning to end. Especially the end when I think about how many times words made a way through when I didn’t know which way to go.

True, I often don’t know where these thoughts/ideas come from but pick at them and next thing you know you have a page full of words from which a poem can be culled.

Your books have arrived and are resting on our coffee table! I love the creative energy that happens when I write … on the other hand, when I have a stall, it feels horrible. I slow down, body, brain and soul.
