This is Saturday Night in Floyd
I don’t remember exactly what Dead Reckoning drummer George Penn was saying to the crowd but I know this is a front-page picture. I do remember his enthusiasm and the energy and love shared by the musicians and dancers.
We danced amongst friends and next to a fireman from Nelson County, who came specifically to see this band. On our other side, a couple from Pulaski had never seen the band before but soon cracked smiles and took phone videos.
But it wasn’t just Grateful Dead music… Sugaree, Cassidy and the rest. Dylan’s Tangled up in Blue and Jimmy Cliff’s The Harder They Fall were worth the price of admission. Every song was a classic that the dancers sang along to. Joe was ecstatic to hear Terrapin Station.
Thanks to Dogtown Roadhouse, the band and all the good vibe dancers that made it a night to remember. I Know You, Rider. Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone.
