Donna the Buffalo: Family Picture in Floyd
Well, I’ve always called it Round Ball, but whatever the name, it seems to be everyone’s favorite.
By my count (videos and blog posts), the band has played at Dogtown six times. Add Floydfest to that and you can just about double the amount of times that they’ve played in Floyd.
The Hotel Floyd was packed. “The Herd” came out from everywhere.
It was 2 1/2 hours of non-stop dancing. The drummer and bass player were new to me.
Contrary to a newcomer’s assumption, the female singer songwriter’s name is not Donna. It’s Tara Nevins, and from what I can tell, she plays electric violin, guitar, accordion and washboard.
Jeb, shown above rockin’ out, is the other front man who, like Tara, writes great songs and also plays sweet guitar licks that remind me of Garcia.
So here are a few more family pictures.
My friend Holly didn’t let an injured foot stop her. She danced from her broken foot scooter.
HERE is a 2011 classic Donna the Buffalo at Floydfest clip with my sister Sherry and grandson Bryce in it. And HERE is an earlier 2009 clip where my sister Tricia is briefly shown. A classic Dogtown Show blog post from 2016 is HERE.
