The Break-up
I lost interest
in the poem I was writing
like I did with my boyfriends
in high school
I agreed to go steady
but then didn’t know how to say
‘I like you but not like that’
I want to be friends with poetry
I want to find the right one
But some poetry is already spoken for
and sometimes poetry breaks up with me

Was smiling at the first verse (great analogy) and wistful at the close… always bittersweet the relationship with poetry!!! Great poem!

Ah, but when you do find the right one, it puts a shine on the world and everything becomes beautiful!

Animal instincts often aren’t the same for boys and girls. Girls like boy toys, I found that out in first grade. Much later vise versa.
Poetry? An old age hobby for me.

Wow, I’m smiling…some poetry already spoken ………..
It’s true and how well you brought it out

Poetry does break up and you have to sew the lines and mend the corners

I love this one. I can relate in all counts. Poetry can be an unpredictable (but so fun) boyfriend.

Wow! Just wow! I’m envious. I wish I could have written those last two lines, but they’ve already been spoken for. Ha!

This is 100% relatable content. LOL, sometimes its so fickle and flighty and other times it brings exactly what my heart needed to hear.

This is an intriguing analogy and I love that first stanza
