A Stand Alone
Picking a poem for a reading
is like playing spin the bottle
when you’re 13 years’ old
Do you want to be picked?
Are you rewarded with a kiss?
or happy with your lucky miss?

LOL, it’s definitely felt that way to me when I had to decide what to read out loud. A mix of awkward and thrilling.

I think every poem would like to be picked, and be rewarded with a kiss. 🙂

Our youngest grandaughter will be 13 in July, I might ask her. First I will ask her what she knows about the game. We played it like tag, the person pointed was tagged, out but had the next spin.

I like this poem of yours.
I once participated in poetry readings. (That sounds so exciting and grand, but it was just a few readers doing their own poetry to a few friends who felt obligated to listen, ha). It was hard to choose from all my little creations and never felt I’d chosen the right ones.
