Let Your Hair Down with Liontracks
Sky High Reggae is bringing world class reggae music to Southwest Virginia. “Grass ain’t only blue, baby,” the emcee told the crowd while introducing the feature band from Winston Salem, Liontracks.
It was a free event (accepting fundraiser donations) meant to happen in Lineberry Park but brought inside to the Dogtown stage because of Hurricane Ian’s rain.
This Liontracks musician (who at one point pulled off his hat and revealed his to-the-floor dreadlocks) made a connection with a fan who remained up at the front stage for both sets, called him his lighthouse. “Everybody needs a lighthouse.”
Along with the main band who have been playing together and spreading the love for more than 30 years, the event opened with some songs from Nyo Allen Music and featured dubs by the ArkLight Sound System crew.
Also featured was Floyd’s own DJ rubystar, aka as Liz Stallings, a co-owner and promoter of Sky High Reggae.
Energy was definitely raised and the crowd was enthusiastic!
