13: Your Move
1. My friend Chris played two Scrabble games on two Scrabble boards at the same time.
2. Scrabble or scramble?
3. “You are in this time of the interim where everything seems withheld. The path you took to get here has washed out. The way forward is still concealed from you. The old is not old enough to have died away, the new is still too young to be born. You cannot lay claim to anything in this place of dusk. Your eyes are blurred and there is no mirror. Everyone else has lost sight of your heart and you can see nowhere to put your trust. You know you have to make your own way through. As far as you can, hold your confidence.” Do not allow your confusion to squander this call which is loosening your roots in false ground, that you might become free of all you had outgrown.” -John O’Donohue
4. Onward or forward?
5. After we played Scrabble at the Floyd Country Store that day, I checked out the store’s gingerbread contest entries. I was happy to see a Floydfest themed one but was scratching my head at the theme.
6. Once I got home and looked at it on the computer, I saw that the scene had the Black Crows, Sheryl Crow, and Goose in it, bands playing at Floydfest this year. There’s also a band called “My Morning Shirt” (right front) and more.
7. We went to a “Christmas Office party.” It just happened to be a Floydfest party for the festival team of workers HERE.
8. On the way to the Floydfest Christmas party, where there was an On the Rise Cookie Competition, we passed a friend and fellow Floydfest staffer riding his bike to the party, 10 miles or so away. He shouted, “See you there!” I rolled down my window and he asked for one of my cookies, so I passed one to him as he peddled.
9. I call this shot “spring cryonics.”
10. Palace or place?
11. Recently said after hearing how Trump released superhero images of himself to make money: “He’s writing ready-made SNL skits for them.”
12. Winter Solstice Scrabble game in Chris’s lovely home on her birthday. Happy Birthday, Chris!
13. Scrabble flashback: THIS is the part of our café Scrabble game where Mara jumps up on the chair and gives Rosemary, who has a headache, a massage, and then Rosemary calls Mara a “Nutcracker” and I crack up.

Lots to ponder in this. That John O’Donohue quote had me thinking.

I love scrabble though I’m not good at spelling so my words are always very short.
I really wish people wouldn’t bother giving publicity to Trump. I’m sick of seeing his mug and hearing about him. If we want him gone, we should stop paying attention to him. Just an idea.
Have a lovely day.
