The Undertow
The poem is an anchor
dropped down in the water
that must be pulled up
or cut from the body
to meet its potential
while I inconspicuously follow
I close my eyes to see

I’m liking your figures of speech here, poem to the anchor (simile??) and the meeting of the poems potential. Could you do that with mine? Is it then like the diagramming of a sentence? I skipped, or was cheated out of, Senior English in high school.
