Striking it Rich
The mind in meditation
is like a treasure detector
When the gold coin is found
the mind drops down
The body reaps the benefit
of quiet stillness
The soul accrues the interest
of currency well spent

What an excellent observation, excellently described. It’s beautiful as a whole, and I particularly love the line ‘the mind drops down’, which, in context, I think perfectly captures that experience.

The body really sees a benefit.. I find my blood pressure down several points after just few minutes of yogic relaxation exercise. The mind is indeed a treasure detector!

I like where the imagery takes me. Gold coins during meditation … I will see what emerges at next try.

So true. Years ago, I used to roll my eyes at the idea of meditation doing anything for me (I know, foolish youth!). I know better now. And my flesh and bones and spirit are certain richer because of it.

A delightful description of what it feels like, the total body/mind benefits of meditation. Brava, Colleen.

Perhaps this poem fits the old adage “health is wealth”. 🙂

A wonderful analogy! I couldn’t agree more. Though it sounds like you’ve cracked true deep meditation, I’ve never quite got the hang of it.
