Going Native
Tiger lily is one of the native plants you can find along The Blue Ridge Parkway this time of year.
I’m always surprised to see so many swaths of bergamot (not the plant that flavors tea to make it Earl Grey), aka bee balm, as I ride by.
I brake for Gayfeather, aka Blazing Stars. I have some in my flower garden at home that have been there since we bought the place in 1993.
The orange Butterfly Bush is wild and plentiful now.
The black bear is also a native and more plentiful than in the past. This one is a baby. It tailed behind the other one that made it into the woods.
At a nearby mountain overlook tailgaters wait for the sunset.
It doesn’t disappoint.
