Making the Rounds Floyd Tourist Style
My brother Joey and his wife Nancy were just in town for a visit. We had 3 full days to hit all the iconic places in Floyd that both tourists and locals alike are known to love.
Mabry Mill is one of the most photographed sites in the U.S. I remember when the grist mill was still active and workers ground grain and sold it for pancake flour.
Our vacation days started with a stroll downtown with a stop at the Troika Gallery to check out the shop and, in particular, my son Josh Copus’s pottery for sale there.
Troika co-owner and friend Abby let me try out the house swing.
Later that day, we went to the Floyd Small Town Summer, which was relocated from the Lineberry Park to Dogtown Roadhouse because of rain. Sol Roots was the featured band that got us all up on the dance floor. Watch HERE and HERE.
The next night we managed some improv Flatfoot dancing at the Floyd Country Store Friday night Jamboree. Watch HERE.
The Jamboree street scene was quite a scene. We mingled and chatted with friends new and old.
Nancy and Joe bought some gifts for family at A Little Monkey Business, The Floyd Country Store and the Artisan Market just like real tourists do.
We had drinks and food at the Lush Lounge Speakeasy, ate at Mickey G’s and enjoyed pizza at Dogtown.
There was some picnic being eaten and yoga being practiced at Fairy Stone Park.
As well as this.
And finally this. Till next time!
