Cutting a Rug @Party and Pub for St. Patty’s 2024

I had never been to Macados in Christiansburg before, but it was a St. Patrick’s Day party with our favorite all-star hometown band, Music Road Co.

The party was in the lobby where Macados and Old Town Printing is located. It and the people were all decked out in green.

I was on my own because Joe was out of town and so, I was looking for some familiar faces, other than the band, and I found them. My friend Holly (pictured on the left) took this selfie.

The MRCO songs and the dancing that ensued was well worth the price of the 40-minute drive there.
There were horns, drums, food and fun.

Not to mention beer on tap.

Joe got home late that night and the next day the St. Patrick celebrations continued.

Joe joined the Irish band for a song.
I love The Star of County Down because it has my name in it: Near to Banbridge Town, in the County Down / One morning last July / Down a boreen green came a sweet colleen / And she smiled as she passed me by…
The pipe player told us this song is from ancient times.

Joe’s kin hails from County Monaghan. Mine hails from Tipperary and Cork. My grandmother was born in Youghal, County Cork. We had a great St. Patrick’s Day and hope everyone else did.

“May your day be touched by a bit of Irish luck, brightened by a song in your heart and warmed by the smiles of the people you love.”
