It’s a Wrap! The 10th Annual Little River Poetry Festival

Sunday at The Little River Poetry Festival is bittersweet because we eventually have to say goodbye to each other and the next festival (June 5 – 7 2026) seems so far away.
It’s become a real community, and after 10 years of coming together and sharing our world with each other through our poetry, bonds have deepened.

Newcomers are always recognized and welcomed with open arms.

Gina wears T-shirts for the Poetry Festival occasion. The one she wore the day before this one, which reads “It’s a Good Day to Write,” said “Bookmarks are for Quitters.”

Vi’s T-shirt says “Vibing.”

One of the highlights of Sunday was that Vi wanted to share her reading with longtime LRPF poet/painter Coral who couldn’t be with us. Krista helped set up the connection.

Everyone waved to Cora or came up to talk to her over Facetime.
Another highlight was the ensemble performance.

This year it featured Jack, Judith, a poet reading the works of Eric Forsbergh who got sick at the last minute and Maggie Dillow. It was titled “Now What Can We Do?
And yet, another highlight was poetry tributes to Evangelina, a long time LRP participant and volunteer who passed away recently.

I found this picture of Evangelina from 2018. She loved butterflies.

My hair was dark when I first started reading at the Little River Poetry Festival. HERE is the first story of the first LRPF that I wrote for the Floyd Press newspaper in 2016.
