The Afterlife
I’ll be a muse in the afterlife
I’ll live on the internet
You can look me up
and read all about it
I’ll leave cameos
on YouTube videos
I’ll leave traces on searches
and poems on the cloud

The afterlife in the digital world… so different than we ever imagined when we were young.

Your poem resonates with me, Collen. I have an ex-sister-in-law who died some years ago and a very dear friend who died last year, and they still exist on the internet, and I sometimes visit their Facebook pages – it’s as if they are still alive. I love the thought of leaving traces on searches and poems on the cloud.

No matter where you go, CR, you’ll never be gone.

What a creative poem. Indeed, how long will our presence remain in the digital world after we are passed on? That is something to think about.

As ambitions go, that is a good one.

Ron – given time, we will be.
Leaving a digital print is fine and all, but I want to leave something physical, too. Even though it is still just as likely to be forgotten!

I like it to leave traces in the world like that and be eternalised

I am ambivalent about Facebook pages that are left open forever, Coleen, but I love to find random traces of mine and others prescence on the web. Here is one of mine from 29 years ago that seems to be sticking around…

Oh I really hope that’s an afterlife option!

A digital haunting – I love it!

Love the idea of after life existence in the digital world…. I wish I could leave back some contributions that will be searched when I am gone and will pop up on the screen every then and again….

This poem was meant as humor while also making a commentary on what it all has sadly come to.
