Floyd Times Power Hour
About 50 people came out to support the Floyd Times, Floyd’s independent, nonpartisan, non-profit news source that delivers local news and highlights a wide range of community voices.
The first online edition was launched in August 2025 and currently publishes weekly and prints paper copies approximately once a month.
The fundraising power hour was part of the Community Foundation of the NRV Give Local initiative. We were able to raise $25,540 by 98 donors and received a $1,500 grant from the foundation for most money raised in the small organization category.
As a contributing reporter and on behalf of the Floyd Times, I’d like to thank the Community Foundation of the NRV, the sponsors of Give Local, everyone who participated and Gather restaurant (opening to the public soon on top of The Harvest Moon) for hosting the event and providing such fantastically flavorful food during the event.
Here’s Floyd Times Board President John Hopkins announcing the the Power Hour Fundraiser progress.

The event went over very well as our 1st. Looking forward to more community events at Gather Restaurant. Also, please note that we are Gather Restaurant, NOT “The Gathering Restaurant”
