13 Thursday To-Go
1. If all of us bloggers met in room, would we recognize each other?
2. Sometimes I feel like a waitress. After serving up my post for the day, I wait for the comments the way a waitress waits for tips.
3. I wait for seeds to come up the same way. Last week I planted corn. This week I find myself going out to the garden a few times a day just to see if anything has sprouted yet.
4. My sister, Kathy, recently had a dream about my father who died this past November. In the dream she and my brother, Jim, who died in the summer of 2001, were dressing our dad for his funeral. They struggled to put on his pants legs, and as they did, at one point my father winced, and my sister said to Jim, “See. Dad isn’t really dead, because his knee hurts him.” She then woke up with her own knee in excruciating pain. Later, she said to us on the Lovelink (our family email group), “I hope it doesn’t mean that I’ll be with Jim and dad soon.” I answered, “I think it might mean that dad isn’t dead because he still lives on IN you.
5. I’ve only dreamt once about my father since he died, but in our family when any one of us dreams about him, or our brothers, Jim or Dan, it’s a dream we all get to own and benefit from the message of.
6. Some people think agnostics are doubters. I think they’re open-minded.
7. I like blogging because it helps me break down my life and my writing into bite size digestible pieces.
8. Sometimes I get confused about privacy protocols as it relates to blogging, but mostly I find that I worry more about it than the people I post about do.
9. Mara got the new addition of Official Scrabble Dictionary. The first word I looked up in it was BLOG. It wasn’t in the last edition, which both of us have, but it was in this new one!
10. A magnetic poetry word fell face-down off the magnet board yesterday. I picked it up, turned it around and read: “FALL.”
11. The number 13 figures in with this humorous photo found at Vitamin Sea.
12. When reading blogs, my mind fills-in how I think the authors might look, in the same way I decide how characters look when I’m reading a book.
13. Having fun is sometimes a lot of work. The last two weekends have been so packed with fun activities that I found myself feeling like I needed a vacation from all the fun and wondering how many people have jobs just to get a vacation from their real life.
Post notes: I’m off for our regional blogger meet-up today. All Things 13 are here. Except for the ones that are here.
May 11th, 2006 8:54 am
I like your list. I try to picture what other bloggers look like too. It’s a reflex – I don’t really do it on purpose.
May 11th, 2006 8:55 am
Have fun at the meeting! As always, I loved your Thursday Thirteen. I’m way too untogether these days to think of thirteen things to jot down, or I’d do it myself. 😉

Great list I always try to think of what a blogger would look like if they don’t share a picture. My tt are up.
May 11th, 2006 9:30 am
I always wonder what bloggers look like. You look like a friend of mine from a previous job.
Have a good time at your blogger meet up.
May 11th, 2006 9:32 am
Ha, number 10 made me giggle. I love when things like that happen.
May 11th, 2006 9:46 am
This is such a good list!
I oftentimes find myself wondering what other bloggers are like in person.
My T 13 is published in celebration of 38 years’ marriage.
May 11th, 2006 9:50 am
How appropriate that the magnet knew what his job was, huh?
What an interesting dream. I would have thought the same thing, because they are both very much alive in all of you. {{{hugs}}}
Me, I just boil grapefruit in my dreams. What the heck is wrong with me? LOL
Have a wonderful day, Colleen!!

Oh, a regional blogger meet-up, what fun! I always enjoy reading your TTs. I learned that I am rather openminded, thanks to your nr6. Happy Thursday!
May 11th, 2006 11:36 am
I need Martin here….is analogies the word I am looking for….like your number 2….I always like your analogies! I hope that is correct!
Hope you’re having a great time at the meeting.
May 11th, 2006 11:42 am
“I think it might mean that dad isn’t dead because he still lives on IN you” – is so true! How lucky to have that list and share insights in your family!
PS. I go outside and watch for sprouts too. I get so happy when they start showing, it is almost as if I never believe I can grow life with just some dust in a package, my hands and rain. I planted Poppy seeds on Sunday, checked on them 5 hours later. I think today it’s time to check again!
May 11th, 2006 1:11 pm
What a great list…and in that dream your sister had, I really like your explaination…
🙂
Happy Thursday!

Commenting on a few of your 13s.
1. If all of us bloggers met in room, would we recognize each other?
I’d say no – not visually anyway. Maybe once they started talking; something would come through, but even then I doubt it for we would all be wearing our personality masks (the kind we all wear until we feel safe.)
2. Sometimes I feel like a waitress. After serving up my post for the day, I wait for the comments the way a waitress waits for tips.
Being a waitress for over 30 years, I would have to say that this analogy fits to a tee. Sadly, I’m only making minimum wage over at my blog. LOL.
4. My sister, Kathy, recently had a dream about my father who died this past November…
Well; if it were not for the fact that I was crying when I woke up from that dream, I would have thought the same thing right away. The reason the other thought came to mind was because of the sadness that accompanied the dream. Thinking it over though, after your suggestion, it may have been the pain in my knee that was making me cry. I don’t know.
6. Some people think agnostics are doubters. I think they’re open-minded.
I strongly agree.
12. When reading blogs, my mind fills-in how I think the authors might look, in the same way I decide how characters look when I’m reading a book.
which why I’m always disappointed when I see a movie after I’ve read a book.
BTW, this has prompted me to post a picture of myself for tomorrow’s blog entry. Good idea.
May 11th, 2006 2:06 pm
Great list, I agree with so many parts 🙂
May 11th, 2006 2:08 pm
This is a really cool list.
May 11th, 2006 2:36 pm
Now that would be fun! A bunch of bloggers meeting up. I’m ALWAYS wrong when I picture what people look like.
No one would have a problem picking me out, I post my ugly mug all over my blog. *grin*
Happy TT!
May 11th, 2006 3:17 pm
I love your interpretation of your sister’s dream.
Funny you had two that related to what bloggers look like…I’d ask you what you thought I looked like, from reading my blog, but I’d be scared of your answer LOL!
And I loved #10!!!
May 11th, 2006 3:22 pm
Here I am dropping off my tip! Great list.
May 11th, 2006 4:07 pm
I always enjoy your blog. Yes, I wonder too if we bloggers would know each other.
My TT is up.
May 11th, 2006 4:17 pm
I so know what you mean with #13 – it has been like that on every journey we’ve been doing. We must go home to rest befor we’re taking next trip 🙂
Except from 2006 when I’ve had some health issues so I haven’t had the energy to go 🙁
May 11th, 2006 4:30 pm
I really enjoyed that!
May 11th, 2006 4:41 pm
Me too, on #2!
May 11th, 2006 6:20 pm
Great list. No, I think we wouldn’t recognize each other if all of us met in a room. Well, the bloggers who have pictures on their site would be recognizable. You know how when you are reading a book and finally see the picture of the author at the end of the book- do they ever look like you pictured they might? Or the radio announcer? Nope … so I suspect the same thing would happen with bloggers. 🙂
My TT is up.
May 11th, 2006 6:24 pm
People rarely look like I think they will, although a lot of us fiber people share certain physical characteristics! You looked just like I expected. Sorry I couldn’t make the blogger’s meeting; too much happening; hope to see you all next time.
May 11th, 2006 7:53 pm
I once went to an internet “breakfast party here in Tampa.
My hub and I approached the door to the restaurant at the same time as another man and his two sons. I had never seen this man before, but I had a strange feeling that he was part of our group. It turned out that he was, and he later said that he had the same feeling about my hub and I, even though he had never seen a picture of me.
I think sometimes we get to know each other well enough through our online experiences so that we probably could recognize each other in a room. One just never knows! 🙂
Hope your readers enjoyed the little humorous sign on my site today. 🙂
May 12th, 2006 1:06 am
Spent the day moving the daughter out of the dorm. More work than I thought it would be. Somehow my mind blanked out that van loaded to the gills that went up last fall.
I too, watch the seeds and bulbs I plant to see if they come up. It signifies my lack of patience. Last fall we bought a “Fairytale” pumpkin; big and ridged and shaped just like Cinderella’s coach. I saved seeds, just rinsed and kept dry. I planted the seeds about two weeks ago. Four mounds with four seeds in each one. Guess what? The ALL came up. So will I have a truck load of pumpkins this fall? Who knows. Maybe some other seeds will come up as well.
May 12th, 2006 8:30 am
Love your list, as always. Never thought about the comments as tips to a waitress ( good analogy though!) Hope your blog meet went well. Did you meet anyone new? Did you recognize them?
May 12th, 2006 8:44 am
I laughed out loud at number 10. I always enjoy your lists. Thanks for getting me started with these TT. Someday I want to be the guest blogger from the farthest away at your regional blog roundups at the cafe. Thanks for stopping by
May 12th, 2006 9:38 am
I love your list. I’ve had dreams about my father who passed away 9 years ago. They never feature him, but he’ll be “in the next room” or upstairs.
#13 Hit home. Yes, I complained about the corporate environment, but I still thought it was easier then staying at home! Work was always routine and orderly. Something I can’t achieve at home. Besides, someone always cleaned up my trash every night!
May 12th, 2006 1:20 pm
I think your number 7 very eloquently speaks for me, as well.
May 15th, 2006 3:18 pm
The waitress comment…reminds me of something…just last week, I was thinking to myself, “Why is it that people who probably won’t matter to me in 5 years are the ones whose good opinions I just am dying to get?” If it’s my husband or my mom or my kids or whatever, it doesn’t mean as much as say, the other parents in my child’s school class. It’s backward thinking, I think. I am going to try to be more aware of it…Good post
May 15th, 2006 3:22 pm
Yes, Angela. I think sometimes blogging can trigger our high school popularity program. You know, like no comments can feel like not getting picked to play. It’s usually a restimulation, rather than a current issue.
May 15th, 2006 3:40 pm
That’s EXACTLY it!!!! What a smart girl you are…high school…or maybe even junior high…eeeeek!:-) Going to pick up kids…
a:-)
May 16th, 2006 11:13 am
Hey girl…I referenced your wisdom in my blog today…if you want to go and look. 🙂
