The Better Late Than Never Pot Party
“Wow. This pot is big. I bet we could fit Bryce in here,” I say to my son Josh as my house and yard are being totally redesigned with pottery in mind.
We got the lawn mowed and the dog’s hair cut. The grill is ready to fire up. The sign’s about to be put up out on the Blue Ridge Parkway and we’re drinking an afternoon IPA Wedge microbrew.
“This is going to be fun,” Josh says. “Yeah, I feel like we’re getting ready for the party I never let you have as a teenager.” I answer. Some kind of 80’s sounding retro music is playing and Josh is starting to dance.
Hey, I can’t find my kitchen table. It used to be here.
Post Note: My son Josh Copus is a new member of 16 Hands and their annual spring art studio tour is this weekend. Artist’s Open Houses, including ours, are sprinkled throughout the Floyd countryside and beyond. Come on by Saturday or Sunday and see Josh’s latest work, made with wild clay dug from a North Carolina tobacco farmer’s field. We’re at 151 Ridge Haven Road off the Parkway. Josh’s Clayspace Coop clay mate Eric Knoche will also be showing with Josh. For more information about the tour go HERE. To read more about Josh and his adventure with clay and collage go HERE.
