A Festival of Trees at Winterfest
There’s still time to see the Festival of Trees at Jacksonville Center’s Winterfest, where 40 or so trees, uniquely decorated by local businesses, are lighting up the art center’s newly renovated classroom.
It’s a fun and festive fundraiser, where festival goers can bid on their favorite tree and bidding proceeds go to the support the center’s art programs. The highest bidders get to take home a tree decorated in Floyd themes.
The tree on the left was decorated with flair and hand-painted ornaments by Jeanie O’Neill, artist/designer and owner of Jeanie O’Neill’s Gallery and Boutique. The chicken-topped Hotel Floyd tree (center) was decorated by hotel guests with items found around the hotel and includes a gift certificate for one night’s stay at the hotel. The tree to the right, decorated by Farmers Supply, is topped with a miniature pitchfork and features red fishing bobber lights and lures.
Bidding ends Sunday at the close of the festival (5 p.m.), which also features rooms full of local artisan vending, visits from Santa, creative activities for kids and the Jax Café.
