13: The Way We Roll
1. Somebody posted an article on Facebook last week about how hoppy beers are ruining the craft beer reputation. As someone that likes IPA, I commented “the hoppier the beer the happier I am.”
2. And not being able to leave well enough alone, I added: “The more bitter the better.”
3. We get PBS on two channels, and so we flipped back and forth watching two Downton Abbeys Sunday night, not being able to figure out which was the season premier, since we watch it so sporadically.
4. Watching fictional people lead fictional lives (like the aristocrats in Downton Abbey), whether in movies or on TV, is a strange past time, but not so unlike dreaming, playing out stories and scenarios that are not likely to happen in real life for the psyche to explore.
5. Believing in conspiracy theories and believing in God are like two sides of the same spectrum, and neither can we prove.
6. “I find that all my thoughts circle around God like the planets around the sun, and are as irresistibly attracted by Him. I would feel it to be the grossest sin if I were to oppose any resistance to this force.” – Carl Jung
7. I recently read a quote attributed to Buddha, “If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down,” and thought “flying would be nice but I’d settle for not sinking.”
8. I want a pink blow-up raft / to drift carefree on / in a body of water I belong to / Not like a stone / skipping in and out / plummets to the bottom when it’s done / I want a pink raft more / than a girl wants a Barbie doll / or a pink poodle skirt of quilted satin … More of this poem from back in the day when 31 comments on a blog post was not unusual HERE.
9. I once had a blog category sidebar for Pink, where titles like “Pink Suede Pants and a Nehru Jacket with an American Flag Sewed on it,” “Pink Floyd is Turning Blue,” and “Pretty in Pink” were stored.
10. When I was 13, my hair, eyebrow and eyelashes on the left side of my head went completely white, a loss of pigment which I later learned was “segmental vitiligo.” I wonder if that’s what happened to THIS bird.
11. I got some black insulated coveralls for Christmas that Josh thought was a kimono while he was Face-timing me yesterday. I’ve been mistakenly calling the new coveralls a “jumpsuit,” which caused me to say to Joe, “Black is the new Black.”
12. You’ve heard of Lady Ga Ga? Joe and I know someone named La and someone else named La La.
13. I had a New Year’s blog post title called Press Reset, but never wrote the rest.

My Beloved Sandra did a little binge watching of Downton Abbey to get caught up to the new season. I’ve seen one episode (Monday’s). Meh.
As always, a cool 13, CR. Happy New Year.

Did you ever figure out which PBS Station was showing the NEW “Downton Abbey”?
That is one Amazing looking Cardinal….
Great T13, as always, my dear Colleen.

…the way we roll…BACCI…what a great game to play!!

I think we did, Naomi and watching 2 at the same time made it more interesting. It’s like a soap opera so you can jump in anywhere and then try to figure out what you missed.
The bacci ball is at Villa Appalacia Winery here on the Floyd/Patick line.

Are you thinking God would stop the conspiracy theories, or that conspiracy theories lead in to paranoia where God leads out of paranoia? I’ve known people who were deep into both at the same time. Ok, they are pretty crazy, but still.

It’s a stretch but when I made that comment I saw some connection. Maybe believing corrupt stuff is happening when it might not be or good stuff like we are being watched over when we might not be are like two sides of the spectrum of the same thing: belief.

Regarding #7 another blogger asked why people skip and my response was because we cannot fly!
January 8th, 2015 2:07 pm
I love to skip!

I like to watch Downton Abbey too. I’m glad there’s a fifth session.

I’m with you about wanting to soar, but settling for not sinking. There’s always so much to do. 🙂

I’ve never seen Downton Abbey, and for some reason have little interest in it. I would settle for not sinking, too – I have always said I strive not for happiness, but contentment.

At least you can get PBS to come in. I’m not even a mile from them, and should get three stations, but have not been able to get them to tune in since mid-summer. ☻

I never tasted hoppy beer that I know of, but just because of the name of one that was mentioned, I’d try the one called English Velvet.
Fictional characters fascinate me but I’ve never watched Downtown Abbey.
OMGoodness to that bilateral gynandromorph cardinal!

I see the connection through belief. It’s faith v faithless. Part of a continuum.

I don’t mind hoppy beet to a point, but as you Nelson dislikes it. Some are good and some are bad.
I really like Carl Jung…..he makes you think.
And the bird looks beautiful and original!!!
Another great TT!
I wish I could come over here more often. I just have been so dog gone busy!!!!!!!!
