13: Hull Girls
1. My new motto: A hat is the new wig.
2. The best part of walking the beach is who you run into. That’s me (below) with my best friend from childhood, who my sister Trish and I ran into unexpectedly while walking the beach Monday.
3. I recently saw a picture of the Patriots’ Tom Brady with a red lips symbol on his backside, but I wasn’t sure if it meant “kiss my ass” or “I’m a kiss ass.”
4. While out on the sailboat with my sister Sherry and her husband Nelson, we saw a boat named “Oh My Cod” and others named “Bad Buoy” and “Squid Marks.” Nelson said he recently saw ones named “Ship Face”and “The Office,” which made us all visualize a man who loves to sail telling his wife he was “going to the office.” – Check it out HERE.
5. Meet the Redmans: the crew cut crew, the wild things, the sistahs, the gamblers and more HERE.
6. When I posted a photo of the family Wild Things on Facebook, my sister Sherry commented, “you make my heart sink,” but I told her I think the line is “you make my heart sing.” Now everyone who is reading this is singing that Troggs song.
7. Me: I think I just heard a coyote. Nelson: No, that’s just Sherry yawning.
8. My favorite hats are always the ones I’ve lost because the memory of them is usually better than their reality.
9. What do you think the sign (to the left) that I saw on the beach in Marshfield means?
10. I was able to get rid of my hometown stalker when he came knocking at the door by agreeing that I was my older sister when he suggested it. But then I ran into him at the grocery store and he came right up and said “hi Colleen,” so I guess I wasn’t fooling anyone. In the span of two minutes, he cited my birth date, a certain dress he said I wore in high school and a dream he had that I was.
11. Strangest “truth is stranger than fiction” discovery this week: A micro-animal that can survive extreme conditions and temperatures, can withstand 1,000 times more radiation than other animals, are indestructible and almost invisible, are the first known animals to survive in space, can curl up, dry up and go without food or water for more than 10 years, only to rehydrate and reproduce. It’s called a Tardigrade and looks like a mini bear. Check it out HERE.
12. Sometimes I call my sister Kathy “the happy hooker” because she loves to hook rugs.
13. Poets are interpreters who leave part of the translation out of their poems so others can add their own take.
