13: Last Night Was a Blur
1. I don’t play games! That sounds pretty tough, but dressing up as Mario for Halloween made me realize that I have never played a video game.
2. I don’t play games but I sometimes take names.
3. These days I’m not trying to change or better myself, just trying to better understand what’s already there. I realize that the best thing I can to for the world is to be myself. If I can be myself, keep my conscience clear and respect the authority of my inner voice, I know the rest will fall into place and THAT makes me happy. – Closing line in my contribution to the local book Floyd Folks: Collective Wisdom from a (one stoplight) Mountain Community on living a happy and successful life. More on the book HERE.
4. I am you and you are me by a matter of degree.
5. I posted the line above on Facebook and did not mean it as a Beatles’ song verse intro, but people started quoting all the lines from I am the Walrus and I ended up doing some research on whether the Beatles sang “kookookachu” or “goo goo g’joob, which has not been clearly decided. I also found out that “kookookachu” was sung by Simon and Grafunkel in the song Mrs. Robinson, but no one was quoting lines from that.
6. Carl Jung thought that death was the ultimate goal of life and that if people realized that they might not face death with fear but with the feeling of a “job well done” and perhaps with the hope for rebirth. – More HERE.
7. I love the premise of the above and especially love Jung’s description of the transcendent third and I can say from experience that it has worked: If a person can hold the tension between conflicting opposites long enough without succumbing to the urge to identify with either side, a third completely unexpected image comes in to view that can unify the two in a creative new way.
8. I used the words “hot lava cool” more than a few times last week when describing some fall photos and THIS sunset.
9. I hate when the space bar on my hard drive turns red, like I don’t like the gas light on my car coming on or the scale to go past 120.
10. Flamboyant = flame buoyant
11. “Almost all cultures have the notion that there is a judgment when we die. Some kind of accounting has to be made of one’s life. I believe God — and to me “God” is just shorthand for the ineffable divine presence — has only one question for us at the end: “Did you become yourself?” We have a seeded self that begins to germinate at birth. Our true goal in life is to become that self.” – Micheal Meade
12. I try not to think about / the clutter in the basement / or the rain washing foundations away / I recreate my life like puzzle / Is everyone safe in their place? – More from my newest poem “Light Sleeper” HERE.
13. I got bit by a goose in my dream last night and had to pry its mouth off my leg.

How interesting! I wonder what a dream dictionary would make of your goose dream.
I like the expression “hot lava.” I can imagine the leaves it describes.
Thank you my creative friend.

Glad to see ‘what you live in Floyd and don’t have a tie dye’ made it into 13 via link.

Rather than trying not to think about the basement, how about doing what needs to be done so you don’t need to think about it?
As to games, I’m very much into RPG, but can’t talk much about it because people either have no idea what I’m talking about, or are so much more into it than I am that I can’t keep up.

That’s the first time I’ve heard about a goose dream. It’s not something that jumps to mind when I think about dreams.
I dislike the red bar on the hard drive too. It’s difficult to fix!

“Hot lava” is redundant, no? Or can it be cold?

Funny, in that the original term I used was “hot lava cool” because the pictures were “cool.” I guess it was lost in translation.

What is the red bar on the hard drive. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that and now I’m curious.
I play RPG games like Alice, but only a few of them. I also play way too much Solitaire.

I saw on the tabloids at the drugstore today that Paul slept with Yoko. That was no surprise, but a bit of a disappointment.

Anita, hit the circle at the far bottom left (a search programs thing) and then hit “computer.” It will tell you how much room you have left on your PC. Mine goes into red (almost full) a lot.
Tabor, I couldn’t find anything online about Paul and Yoko sleeping together, only their feuds. Maybe it was one of those tabloids that out and out lies.

Wow, I can’t believe you’ve never played at least one video game. We had Pong and Atari growing up, and I occasionally get suckered into playing something on the Wii when at my sister’s. I can’t do Mario Kart, though. I don’t get motion sick, but the split screen of that game can trigger migraines. My T13

I used to play pinball. It’s more hands on!
