The Snowscape Escape
After being snowed in for three days, by Sunday I was ready to see the world, and by that I mean more than the mailbox.
After we dug out our car and our neighbor plowed our driveway with his tractor (Thanks, Leo!), we were good to go. We took off for a Sunday drive to see the winter sights.
In town, we warmed up at The Floyd Country Store, chatted with some friends and had some soup that hit the spot.
I was further warmed in a heartfelt way by seeing kids and their families playing in the snow.
At Dogtown Roadhouse, the staff was shoveling the sidewalk and deck, getting ready for a “Cabin Fever” party that night and Open Mic.
I guess I had some cabin fever because once I got out, even a manhole cover brought me a sense of delight, probably because it looks like a snowflake!
The ride home was as pretty as the ride in. We were grateful for the sunny day, that the storm wasn’t as bad as predicted and for the change of scenery that made us appreciate our beautiful country town.

My kids are still housebound in the city because the roads in the suburbs are impassable. Interesting that the country/mountain folks are out and about already!

No school for an indefinable time though because buses and back country roads don’t mix. We’re lucky that we have so many farmer tractor plowers and the main roads are fine.

We (almost) always look just like this, but not THIS year. We currently have less than a foot. The tables have certainly turned. Enjoy!

These are beautiful shots, Colleen. I don’t want quite so much snow, but I would love a few inches here. I love soup and hot cocoa or mulled apple cider on a snowy day while gazing at the white blanketed beauty. Esp love the 2nd from the bottom photo – such a picturesque landscape, it seems, even when it is not snowing, and who did the windows at the store?

Very nice setting where you live. It’s always good to get out after a bout of cabin fever.

I guess the owners of the Floyd Country Store did the winter windows or had someone do them, and they came out great! The scenes are typical Floyd ones of homesteads along Route 8.

Stunning shots.

Such fresh clean looking snow – it is brautiful. In the city (in the UK) it turns to ugly, grey slushy stuff in no time.

These shots are very pretty. I could drive all day in the countryside covered in snow. Visiting from Our World Tuesday
