13: Fair Game
1. I can’t believe I walked around the Marshfield Fair – after seeing some chickens in the livestock barn – with two raw eggs in a cup. “Thanks for breakfast,” I said to the 4H leader as we left.
2. It was my first time attending the Fair, which was celebrating its 150th anniversary. It topped off my six days in my home state of Massachusetts and in Maine for my nieces wedding. See HERE.
3. It was eerie to hear all the screams at the entrance to the Fair and took a few second to figure out that they were coming from people on rides.
4. I was interested in seeing what was inside the Illusion attraction (pictured above), so I asked the guy taking the tickets if I could just take a peek. “What are you, a Peeping Mom?” he asked me (a play on “peeping Tom”).
5. Speaking of eerie, we saw the eclipse while on the water in my brother-in-law’s boat. It wasn’t much, just some eerie lighting like a midday bright dusk.
6. It was like smoking a joint for the first time and thinking maybe it was having an effect or maybe it was the power of suggestion.
7. Later I posted the photo above on Facebook with the caption, “This is the “eclipse” we saw.”
8. We sailed along Peddocks Island Land, which was featured in Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie Shutter Island. Peddocks Island is near the high school I went to in Hull and some kids rowed from there to school. HERE is more on the island, part of the Boston Harbor Islands.
9. It’s a small world in Hull, my hometown peninsula. While on the boat we spotted my fisherman brother on a lobster boat. He waved, flapped a fish and shouted something about the “eerie sky.”
10. Are you a soprano yawner or do you yawn alto?
11. Are you a backseat texter?
12. At the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, I worried that the bees would think I was wearing a flower and try to land on me. Sherry was hoping a monarch butterfly would land on her. – More from Flower Girls HERE.
13. While away I never watched the news once. When I got home, I read a Facebook post from a friend that about summed it up: In some minds, logic and reason is now fake. If it makes sense, it’s wrong, right? – Alan Graf

I’m a silent yawner. Seriously, not even a gasp. For texting, I’m either shotgun, or pulled over on the side of the road in the driver’s seat. Sometimes texting is all about where you’re going,.

I yawn soprano.
#3. It must have seemed that there were a lot of really scary animals in the live stock show. wink*
Texting while driving is horrid. We just had an instance where a car kept pulling over on us. As we inched past him, he was texting, and that 50 something should have known better!
#13. This is the Apocalypse.

Sounds like you CAN go home again successfully! i only text if i have to. Which includes ever talking to a few of my grandchildren. I yawn too loudly … according to someone else who lives in this little house with me.
Congrats on being able to keep away from the news for that length of time … hard since we have our phones with us at all times. Your FB friend is absolutely correct and it is absolutely frightening.

Wow, in my neck of the woods this week! I can’t get to the big fairs this year. I have family in Maine also. Great up here this time of year for Southeners. Hope you had a great time!

That looks like a fun time. And no news . . . I think we could all use a break.
