Making 13 Thursday
1. “I can make anything” HERE.
2. Sometimes I repost parts of old entries, the way I wear the same outfits more than once.
3. After sitting in the archive closet for a few years, old posts seem almost new.
4. The entertainment industry seems so hard-up for material these days that all they seem to produce is reruns, reboots, remakes and reality shows.
5. I don’t like long music jams like I don’t like long car chases in movies. In both cases, I’m interested in the storyline and those things do nothing to progress it.
6. My grandsons and I call husking corn “scalping.” It makes making lunch so such much more dramatic, especially after you just watched a Tom Sawyer movie together.
7. So far this summer when the grandsons come over, our dramatic play has included The Titanic, Farmers Market, Murder Mystery, Five Nights at Freddies Night Watchman (with costumes) and Carnival Games. The whole house is transformed to suit the games that have been known to go on for hours.
8. I had a little trouble showing my grandson the difference between the TWIST and the FLOSS. I showed them the PHILLY and THE STROLL and they showed me GANGNAM STYLE and the ELECTRIC SLIDE.
9. One night I can’t get to sleep, the next I can’t wake up.
10. But the dream loses its hold / when the dreamer gets too close / Now they’re gone without a trace / I wake before I know … More from My Mother’s Clothes HERE.
11. When Stop Making Sense Makes Complete Sense: Occasionally I come to place when I finish a post, hit PUBLISH, and all my motivation and ideas just STOP. I push myself away from my desk like I do from the dinner table when I’m full. I get up and wander around the house deciding what to do next. For a few hours I almost believe that my blogging days might be over. The thought of it makes me feel partly relieved and partly terrified. The kitchen needs cleaning and the cellar floor needs sweeping. But these tasks don’t hold my attention. If I didn’t write so much, what else would I do?
12. It doesn’t take long for my mind to start scanning for new material. But I feel like a car out of gas, planning for trips that I don’t have the energy to take. I’d like to enjoy being idle, but I’m intimidated by a looming sense of dead end. I’m tired and don’t want to write, but writing is what makes me feel better. If my dilemma goes on long enough I break down and pick up a pen. I start writing about what it feels like not to be writing. And soon I really am. -More from Stop Making Sense HERE.

I’m fond of the whole When Stop Making Sense Makes Complete Sense –
and the #13 quote is wonderful 🙂
of course, just because a job – work, play, -> writing is done, in the moment, for the moment, doesn’t mean impending doom and finality – although the way you’ve phrased it Colleen,
“I almost believe that my blogging days might be over. The thought of it makes me feel partly relieved and partly terrified. The kitchen needs cleaning and the cellar floor needs sweeping. But these tasks don’t hold my attention. If I didn’t write so much, what else would I do?”
had me chuckling a bit … in understanding and slightly with a wry smile of “sure, not yet” …
but it’s normal, for whatever that means, to feel done, finished, completed and then to wander endlessly – because sometimes words end, and ideas need to sit, to brew, to stew, or to remain elusive;
a had a wonderfully wise writing friend who had told me long ago – sometimes we need to stop, rest, breathe, recharge – fill the well –
because we’re always dipping and taking from it – and need to know when it’s time to shift to something else, to find and just listen, watch, and learn again what the fire of inspiration will be …
so it’s okay – and if you’re really feeling energized, you can always tackle the things that need doing ?

I agree about # 4 – or they come up with reality TV. There is new one, I think it’s called proposal? Ask someone to marry you, that you don’t even know.
I agree with # 5 as well. I always fast forward the car chase if Nelson is not watching.
Great TT & I love Bryce’s YouTube videos. He is such an inspiration like his Nana.

Gonna add “reality.” Also, I’m tired of all the singing and dancing contest shows.

Blogging’s over pretty much for me, except for a few memes. Habitat renovations (clean ups included) are pressing themselves into the soft underbelly of my guilt.
Have yourself a very interesting week!

I have those moments about writing/blogging/etc too. Sometimes they are scary. And the less I write the more scared I am, and I am writing less and less.
