13: True Blue
1. Most people who lie worry about the risks of being honest, but give little thought to the risks of dishonesty. – From The Cost and Secrets of Lies, Psychcentral
2. I’ve been really depressed about how much Trump lies (according to the Washington Post on June 19, 10,796 times in over 869 days) and how it seems it’s without consequences.
3. Each time we use this form of avoidance (lying) we deepen our sense of being ill equipped to handle the truth, thus reinforcing a feeling of inner weakness. This leads to further deceit. Lying undermines the foundation of a relationship more than anything else. – From Psychology Today
4. Science Says Silence Is Much More Important To Our Brains Than We Think: “A 2013 study on mice published in the journal Brain, Structure and Function used differed types of noise and silence and monitored the effect the sound and silence had on the brains of the mice. The silence was intended to be the control in the study but what they found was surprising. The scientists discovered that when the mice were exposed to two hours of silence per day they developed new cells in the hippocampus. The hippocampus is a region of the brain associated with memory, emotion and learning. – More HERE.

6. “Left to our own devices” takes on a whole new meaning in today’s plugged in world.
7. “In order to see birds, it is necessary to become a part of the silence. One has to sit still like a mystic and wait. One soon learns that fussing, instead of achieving things, merely prevents things from happening. To be passive is in some circumstances the most efficient form of activity. You cannot command events: you can only put yourself in the place where events will happen to you.” ― Robert Lynd, Solomon in All His Glory (1922)

10. I believe the truth has a presence that affects us whether we acknowledge it or not. Not speaking the truth when you know it can stifle the life force for all involved. Acknowledging it is a relief, since it’s there affecting us anyways. When we tell the truth it frees us to move on.

Is it time to retire “climate change” for “climate crisis”? Yes, I think so.

That lack of consequence thing is what bothers me most.

I think the consequences for the lies are being paid – by the American people. Not by the liar. It’s scary. And I think climate crisis is on target.

# 11 – indeed – ‘crisis’ seems more than apt –
and #13 – superb! and now I ask, how differently you feel about owning a computer?
as for lies — the truth usually outs itself, or perhaps that should be ousts – eventually – but often in ways unexpected, and it seems to me the longer we allow for our own deceptions, often the “worse” it seems, in the moment, when the “explosiveness” of the situation happens; of course, the “sweet relief” afterwards really does feel like a watershed moment, and if one is lucky, then you appreciate just how much weight you’ve been carrying around —
as for Trump? it’s all really rather indicative of how permissible people have become as a society – which is depressing enough, imo – because it gives a clear and resounding message of “no accountability or responsibility” – and the idea that there are no consequences to one’s behaviours – or perhaps worse, regardless of them, it just doesn’t matter. It’s a “trump eats trump” world – (were that it were true, literally!) – so I guess it’s more important than ever, to really stop and celebrate, and create/participate in the slivers and slices where people come together and joyously choose “life” – with respect and accordance.
