13: Flights of Fancy
1. Dreaming is sort of like a religion to me because unlike ancient religious tenant or New Age spiritual bypass, dreams are direct and have no platitudes.
2. If dreaming is the religion than writing poetry is the practice.
3. I probably like dreaming so much because I like can’t handle mind-altering substances of any kind. Even homeopathy has been known to mess with my fragile brain chemistry.
4. I just had a dream that I was watching Joe from the house window. He was laying out on a blanket resting for a long time and a woman was sitting next to him. When he finally came in, I said, “I’ve never seen you stay put that long.” I didn’t say anything about the woman and neither did he. That morning when I told him the dream, he wondered if the woman represented his muse. Later that morning, I wrote the dream down in a journal while sitting in the same place the woman was and with Joe beside me.
5. THIS is What Happens in Floyd When Sufi Dance Teacher Says ‘Take a Partner.”
6. He juggles sharpies, draws cartoons for kids and calls everyone Larry. That’s Tom Angleberger, New York Times bestseller of the Origami Yoda series and more. 9. According to THIS Jungian Archetype quiz I am a Wise Old Man. My “Self” and “Persona” both came out Wise Old Man, so I guess that means what you see is what you get.
10. The monarchs are passing by like hikers on the Appalachian Trail. Like models on a blue-sky runway, they’re flashing their high fashion style.
11. A couple of weeks ago, they were feeding on goldenrod. Now they are on high, waving goodbye as they straggle by.
12. “The dream is a little hidden door in the innermost and secret recesses of the soul, opening into that cosmic night which was psyche long before there was any ego consciousness, and which will remain psyche no matter how far our ego consciousness extends.” ~ Carl Jung

I’ve been dreaming up a storm lately, too, CR. Age? Seasonal shift? Who cares!?! Dream on. And watch the butterflies. (We’ll definitely have our 1st snow soon. Very soon. Ugh.)

We don’t have any milkweed in the yard, for some reason a kind of milkweed critter has been killing them off, but the butterflies remember. They emerge from the chrysallises somewhere else, and fly through our yard on their way away.
One or two a day, sometimes more.
It’s like they pay homage to the garden, and they have this place built into their memories.
And I always tell my husband when he mows the fields, to leave the goldenrod along the edge of the road, it’s what they feed on as they migrate.
It was 34 this morning. Definitely a stove morning.

John, Ringo, Paul, and George!I love your puppets. This would be fun to turn into Christmas cards.
There are times when I wake up from a dream that seems so real I go searching for meanings online. Those dreams are usually about resolving whatever is making me anxious. Which is about time.

I’ve been dreaming a lot also, but my dreams tend toward the darkness a lot, I’m afraid. I call them night terrors instead of dreams. I love the little finger puppets. The Beatles on the bottom, right? Very cool.
