13: I Jive You Not
1. Not only is there currently no hand sanitizers sold in stores, you can’t buy the ingredients to make your own.
2. I don’t like to be away from a new poem for too long and find myself giving it the once over more than once.
3. Is it a coincidence that the word panic is in the word pandemic?
4. I did my Irish duty early at the local pub for St. Patrick’s Day, kind of like voting early before the polls shut down. It may have been my last time going out for entertainment for a long while. See HERE.
5. Gab or blab?
6. All I can think of when I look at the picture above is, ‘man, my glasses are scratched.’
7. People, places and things of the past / ring silently true in the present / They glow like the ghosts of an afterlife / and float wherever they will / I follow the landmarks of their memories / and dream the dreams I have loved / Some reappear by my longing for them / as shadows teased from darkroom negatives… Read The Afterword in its entirety HERE.
8. I received one of the best compliments ever from someone who read the above poem. “You are the darkroom and everything in it,” he said. His comment really hit home and went to the truth of what I do: develop poems in the darkroom of the psyche.
9. As an introvert, I have a lot of experience with social distancing.
10. As homebody with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I have a lot of experience sheltering in place.
11. This was my answer to someone who was concerned about the spread of the coronavirus in public places, after I posted I Did My Irish Duty last Sunday: We have cancelled a trip. We are observing social distancing. Joe still goes to work and many people have to. It would be best if everyone could get tested to know to self-quarantine more seriously. I would do that if I thought I had been exposed. As it is, I don’t know. I have gone grocery shopping, and before going to the Brewery, we checked their page and read their statement on the measures they are taking to reduce contagions. We didn’t physically interact with anyone. No one appeared sick, and we washed our hands before and after. One beer a couple of hours. Life goes on.
12. I just wretched my back doing THIS.
13. Recently seen meme: Your grandparents were called to war. You’re being called to sit on the couch. You got this.

Piers Morgan posted a similar meme on IG a few days ago; (with a little swear word) sounded annoyed. I would be too if I personally encountered people who do not cooperate. May we all stay safe.

It’s hard to know what to do, isn’t it? Stay home, go to the store, whatever. My husband has been going out to get things we need for the farm, fence parts, tractor parts, etc., and stopping on his way home to pick up things. I have stayed in, since I am susceptible to everything even when we aren’t having a pandemic. Hope you stay ok.

All of California now has a shelter-in-place. Will most people who don’t need to go to their workplaces honor it, going out to do only what is considered essential? I read that 50+% is of Californians is projected to be infected. The Husband and I surely hope we don’t become part of it, and if we are, that we are healthy enough to come out of it. Shudder. Take care.
