13: Look Up
1. With all our mask wearing, we’re all incognito now.
2. As someone who likes to do research, I say ‘look it up’ a lot.
3. Joe went to a family reunion on the beach while I stayed home alone with the shingles, which made me ask, a retreat or a sentence?
4. How uncanny that on Saturday my friend Katherine and spent a couple of hours listening to live music at a local winery and ran into a mutual friend who also had shingles.
5. From 15,000+ at Floydfest to 15 in the Courtyard In these pandemic times, we take our entertainment where we can find it. More HERE.
6. The conscience is the drum / worthy to follow the beat of / Right, wrong / Right, wrong / There is no side / to choose from … Read Your Own Drum in its entirety HERE.
7. The Dixie Chicks just changed their name to ‘The Chicks’ and they dropped a new song called March from an album called Gaslighter with this line: “Everybody’s talkin’, who’s gonna listen? What the hell happened in Helsinki?” That’s what I want to know.
8. I’ve been saying for years that I want to see a wood thrush. Their beautiful song is so recognizable, but they live high up in trees in the forest and rarely show themselves. This week one appeared on my porch and seemed to be injured. I got close up and stayed with it for about an hour before I had to leave. When I returned it was gone. The next day I spotted the wood thrush from my bedroom window. It was down in the driveway by the woodpile hopping around. Physical therapy?
9. There are places of comfort / at the tops of trees / where the tulips turn like bells / but never ring / Where the lost and found mingle / but don’t tell their secrets / They hang like our childhood / just out of reach … From I Look Up
10. Seems I can only poke but never penetrate the mystery of death and my heart’s response to it.
11. I love that I can write something into existence.
12. “We won’t be sitting around telling pandemic stories five years from now, stories about sitting on the terrace and looking at the moon, and that’s okay by me. I’m not as interested in stories as I was back in the day. Since January 2017, the nation has seen a thousand fascinating stories out of Washington, each one with the same name in the headline, all of them unbelievable and fascinating, and after three years, a person is exhausted. What remains to happen? Will there be a big statue of him holding a Bible? Will he sign an executive order making the coronavirus go away? Will Jared be put in charge of the Pentagon?”Garrison Keillor

This is all a little too complicated for me. I do love the pic of the finch isn’t it? Not sure, but he’s definitely cute. Seems to me there are a lot of issues you’re wondering about, but I’m not sure which one I should address so how about I say say hello, and I hope you find what you’re looking for. Have a great day!

I will say, lucky you if people around you are wearing masks. They refuse here, I wear them but never ever feel safe any more.
