It’s Music to My Ears
After four months of pandemic life with no live music in a town known for it, the music scene in Floyd is coming back. It started with an outdoor backyard concert with Junior Sisk, Sammy Shelor and others at The Floyd Country Store a couple of weeks ago. Last Saturday night Music Road Company musicians with guest Zeph Allen (formerly from the Aliens) played (and live-streamed) at Dogtown Roadhouse to a limited indoor seating crowd. But some of us didn’t remain seated with our pizza and beer. It felt so good to dance again.
This Saturday, CC Coates played blues under a beautiful evening sky at the Buffalo Mountain Brewery’s 2nd annual birthday celebration. There was plenty of social distance seating but it was also a very social time. We saw some friends, tried the newly brewed Festivus for the Restivus German Lager, had us some Thai noodle salad and a real good time.
Along with band members Brian Tent on drums, CC Coates on vocals and lead guitar and Stephen Wallace on bass, it was a nice surprise to see CC’s son Colt from the Atlanta band Cure My Enemy (formerly Sound Wave, which has played at Dogtown) join the band’s second set.
Philip Gilbert won the keg toss again! Check out last year’s 1st brewery birthday bash HERE. Next up, checking out the Art of Music exhibit at Floyd Center for the Arts.

Lucky you! You got music and beer! The Thai Noodles sound delish!
I went to the beach and the water was warm. I had a dirty banana drink that was so good! It tasted like a dessert. These pleasures of life seem even more enjoyable since Covid! I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder is a true statement!

Oh this post makes me realize how much I miss live music. Facebook live and Zoom just don’t get it done.
I’ll have to keep my eyes open for safe performances locally.

Festivus lager? LOL. You never know what will catch on!
