13: Shell Game
1. You’ve heard the saying ‘over the moon?’ Here at Atlantic Beach, it’s ‘over the ocean’ because it’s an island inlet that is south facing and out-of-this-world sunsets are over the ocean.
2. I literally said, “We may as well have died and gone to heaven,” when we arrived at the beach and were transported to someplace entirely new, a paradise where the sky turned upside down, the clouds hung over a sandbar of light, the horizon spread into eternity and the lava of fiery light spilled and flooded the beach. Every night is a new show. And every day there are new cloud angels floating by. – More HERE.
3. Every day’s been sunny and warm but sometimes there are biting sand flies. On Sunday it was windy and when I opened my mouth to yawn I got sand in my mouth.
4. Navy blue is the black of the beach.
5. When we walked the beach we had to limbo under fishing lines. The sand squeaks under our feet and sometimes we come across soft sand along the shore that causes our feet to sink down like it was quicksand.
6. It’s unlikely to happen but Joe would like a sky burial, where his body is put in a tree and left in the woods for birds to eat. As a hometown beach girl, I say, “Just bury me in the sand.”
7. If I can’t have a heated pool, the least I can have is a big sandbox.
8. Watching a little sand crab sweep out his den is like watching someone try to empty the ocean with a cup.
9. The same skill I use to find the best clothes at the Thrift Shop, I use to find the best shells on the beach.
10. I found a shell that looked like Batman. Or is it Darth Vader?
11. “Yes, there are other issues that are all very important — the pandemic, systemic racism, income inequality, immigration, gun violence. But here’s the thing. If we don’t address climate change, none of those issues will matter at all. The car is going off a cliff and we’re fiddling with the radio.” Jimmy Kimmel, Climate Change Intervention. More HERE.
12. “I was raised in an African American culture and saw the devastating effect then of racial segregation. I just wanted to see African Americans and white children go to school together. That was the reason I went into politics to begin with.” Jimmy Carter
13. “Wherever the truth is injured, defend it.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

What pretty homes where sea creatures once lived. Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks are about as clear and rational as it gets; denying climate change has been a dangerously overlong shell game.

Looks and sounds like a nice beach to visit. I’ve only been to the Myrtle and Virginia Beach areas. Not really much of a beach person, but it is nice to visit every now and then. It is hard to defend “truth” when everyone now has decided their own definition of the word.
