Happy Camper
It was our grandson Liam’s idea to go camping at our hometown camp in the Rock Castle Gorge.
With our backpacks in tow, we followed the trail along the rushing Rock Castle Creek from the parking area to the Depression era primitive camp. Joe pushed some firewood and gear in a wheelbarrow.
After setting up camp, there was wood chopping, axe throwing and football passing. Bryce played guitar while Liam tended the camp fire.
We hiked to the old 1916 Austin house and homestead.
It was sunny and I had an angel on my shoulder.
Did I mention camp chili? And Virginia bluebells?
Campers have smore fun. Hello. It was marshmallows.
At night, we popped popcorn over and the open fire, told ghost stories and did some stargazing.
We had some color packets that turned the campfire into a rainbow of flames.
Check it out! Enjoy the music and watch out for that Jersey Devil!

Making memories! What a terrific idea Liam had. It takes a bit of effort to organize such a trip but, wow, it looks so totally worth it!

We yield to grandsons asking to go camping every time and wish they did even more often!
