13: Coming Clean
1. The bounce houses at last week’s Floyd Small Town Summer in the park were mostly empty because of this.
2. It was a Snow of Suds Storm.
3. And now I can’t get the song Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath out of my head, even though it’s as silly as the One-Eyed Purple People Eater song.
4. Someone else better is comin’ on. That’s what the Old Time music player told the audience at the end of his band’s set in the Community Building at the 18th annual Meadows of Dan Folk Festival. He was talking about us, ten poets ready to take the Open Mic stage to read poetry in tribute to the Mountain at Lovers Leap, in jeopardy due to a massive road construction project. More HERE.
5. Remedy for Depression: Plant a Rose of Sharon / Wear a flower in your hair / Put sun-dried tomatoes and raisins in your pasta / Put lavender on your pillow case… Read Remedy for Depression in its entirety HERE.
6. Believe it or not, I have written poems in the bathtub like this one: The Big Bang Theory of Bathing – The bubbles in my bath / are a universe of planets / I’m a clumsy cosmic island / making ripples in deep space / putting out their starry lights / bumping into cosmic order / I’m splayed across dark matter / like a swath of milky way
7. The coyotes (which we never had in these mountains until 5 or so years ago) have been howling up a storm. Every night they sound like a fleet of ambulances.
8. Some things in the study of Quantum Psychics have been empirically shown to be true over and over, like the fact that an atom can’t be destroyed but only changes form, or that physical matter is 99% empty space, or that if you separate an atomic particle into two subunits and send them to the opposite ends of the world, changing the spin of one changes the spin of the other, or that a particle changes its behavior depending on whether it is being watched or not.
9. Because a particle exists in a fuzzy state of uncertainty until it is observed, some scientists deduce that the physical world we perceive is not something out there that’s separate from us but is created by our minds as we observe it and that reality as we know involves our consciousness, is constructed and held by consensus and strengthened by memory.
10. “Once you measure something, the wave of probability to measure the same value of already probed physical quantity becomes localized and that’s how reality comes to be consistently real to us all. Once you keep measuring a quantity over and over, knowing the result of the first measurement, you will see the outcome to be the same.” Physicist Robert Lanza
11. Memory lessens as we age. I think it takes more effort to hold the consensus reality concretely together, and sometimes our bubble gets burst.
12. “Matter is spirit reduced to the point of visibility.” Einstein

#9 is really deep. And if I wasn’t totally fried brain-wise right now, I might spend some time on that thought.

#9 sounds like The Matrix movies. Maybe we really are just the imagination of a giant.
