Outtakes and Play Dates @Floydfest – Day 4

Playing footsie with my sweet friend Sudha was a Saturday highlight.

At one point that day the stages were shut down for a weather alert (no rain came) and people took cover under tents. We had a Nashville songwriter serenader by the name of Jon Black come by. He was very entertaining. Listen HERE.

Near the end of the shutdown, before the stages got up and running, Hippies and Cowboys did a welcomed informal and impromptu acoustic set in front of the Oasis stage. Listen HERE.

Another highlight was catching Floyd’s own Chris Link perform (with Shane Edgell and Will Norton) at the Canopy Grove stage. The lead of Deer Run Drifters, closed his set with the song that won him first prize in the Sounds of Skyline songwriting competition. Family Name. It was a tear jerker. As part of his winnings, Chris will be going to Nashville to record it.

A visit to the Phelps Pottery tent is an Old Home Week requirement at Floydfest.

Josh got a grilled cheese incident and I posed with Matt Sebas’ cool shirt.

This can happen at Floydfest.

Or this.

And this.

Getting comfy is an important talent at Floydfest.

Catching this clip at the Main Stage Black Crowes set was a real scoop. Chris Robinson may not be as eloquently articulate as Bruce Springsteen with resistance, but you get the message, and I appreciate it. He reminds us that the darkest hour is just before the dawn.  – Colleen Redman

Post Notes: Look for a story in this week’s Floyd Press. Teasers and Pleasers from Floydfest Aurora Day 2 is HERE.
