Floydfest Family Outtakes

I’m taking Floydfest 2026 photos for the Floyd Times, but only about 20 out of my couple of hundred snapshots will be submitted and chosen from, so hence these Floydfest Family Outtakes.

Dancing with happy friends at Railroad Earth was one of my first snaps of the day on Thursday and set the stage for the whole festival.

Phelps Pottery is usually our Floydfest touch base station. The Phelps family have been a feature of Floydfest since the very beginning in 2002. The late Papa Tom Phelps was an early pottery mentor of my son Josh.

More happy dancing with these Music Road Co goers.

I met my son Josh’s friend from Marshall NC Tyler Ramsey (far right) who played on the Porch Stage. I especially love this picture because it inadvertently caught Erika Johnson, Floydest’s original cofounder with Kris Hodges, kissing her sweetheart Spencer. That’s our homey Dolphin next to Josh.

I wish I was here with Cara, Josh, Ben and Dolphin but I usually head home early because that’s the way I roll.

Two of my best girls being mysterious.

There’s a line at Chantal Coffee in the Deer Park Farm tent.

Joe bought a 3D Neverending Story luck dragon that Caleb made.

I didn’t learn to juggle but pulled Juggling Geoff over for a photo op while he was buying a big pretzel because I like his shirt.

I spent time in my favorite hang out with my son Josh. Joe and I hang there too.

Check out our friend Matt’s Omnibuild shady grove tent for a photo booth picture and raffle chance to win an ebike! Watch HERE!

Love those Woodsong family smiles.

Our friend Delane (Happy Birthday, Delane) took this shot after my epic hug with his wife Amy, who I meet up for a hug every year at Floydfest. Amy read the Jim and Dan Stories (my book about the back to back deaths of two of my brothers) after losing her mother years ago. It was healing for her, and we’ve loved each other since.
