13: The Do It Right Bucket List
1. Me to Joe, who was going to the golf course: Are you going to putt or to putter?
2. “The beauty of quarantine is that you don’t have to see people you don’t want to see, which simplifies life, just as memory loss does. Life comes down to basics. Sleeping, eating, talking, reading, writing, cooking, doing your business. Days are so quiet that a cup of ginger tea might be a highlight or my wife’s beautiful shoulders where she stands in the kitchen and I put my hands on her, and feel like singing a few lines of Verdi’s “Celeste Aida”. But she’s slicing onions for supper so I don’t. Never sing a big aria to a woman holding a knife, she may forget which opera this is.” Garrison Keillor
3. I want to go to Tampa just to see THIS in the airport.
4. The bucket list experience I didn’t know I had HERE.
5. And HERE is the one that I had for many years and finally fulfilled.
6. It holds a bucket list of poems / that I’ve mostly given up on / and handwritten directions / to places I can’t pronounce / Its empty pages are haunted / with a family of unborn chances / for people I’ve never met / who only want to look at the pictures… Read Notebook in its entirety HERE.
7. “Normality is a paved road: It’s a comfortable walk, but no flowers grow.” Vincent van Gogh
8. Father’s Day and Summer Solstice went by without much notice. The 4th of July went by without fireworks, but at least I saw THIS.
9. But some summer traditions, like water balloon wars have been met.
10. Lost like the sins in confession / that I didn’t remember committing / like the clothes left in closets / whenever I moved / and all the high school boys / I said ‘no’ to … Read Lost Day in its entirety HERE.
11. I’m looking for suggestions for a new pool book. I don’t necessarily want to learn or be reminded of something I already know, but I do want to be taken somewhere new.
12. THIS freaks me out.
13. Talk about a bucketful.

Being drowned by birds would freak me out, too. I suppose one drives slowly through the parking lot. Shiver. If I were in Tampa, I’d certainly want to see the flamingo in the airport. It’s very lighthearted.

I am a BIG flamingo fan and grew up in Tampa! I even put a great flamingo video on my post today! Synchronicity… Klimt is my very favorite artist and you just inspired me to go create a klimt like art quilt today, thanks. Your men folk are so handsome with their open faces… nice. I remember one particular water balloon fight as a teen on a high school band trip… we got in lots of trouble but worth it. LeeAnna

I just watched the monet home visit… oh my word. What a dream to do. We saw the Monet exhibit in Denver last year (only place shown in the USA) and it was overwhelming. I felt immersed but to see the actual grounds… lovely. Like balm to my worn out spirit. And your man leads meditation groups. I can’t seem to do it, can’t seem to stop the thoughts, and know it’s healing but it can go on for up to 5 min tops for me. LeeAnna

Books that take you somewhere. Try some Jane Smiley books, maybe? If you really just want a fun read, try Janet Evanovich. Ann Packett can be intriguing. Kristin Hannah also has some good books.

That grackle video looks like it came straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Yikes!
That giant flamingo sculpture is too cool. Which is odd for me to say because I’m kind of scared of flamingos.

I’ve been doing a lot of normality in my daily walks lately here in town (literally). Figuratively, I try to find the flowers.

Love the Garrison Keillor quote, and Van Gogh’s words are very wise.
