1. I call the above picture “The Pied Piper of Sandpiper.”

2. After Tom Petty died, I decided to yell out “Free Fallin” instead of “Free Bird” at concerts.

3. On the way to the beach on Marco Island, we passed a panther crossing road sign.

4. The funniest thing we saw today was when a woman put food in her husband’s hair and then waited for the seagulls to come eat off his head while she and her friend stood by with cameras.

5. The gull didn’t eat off his head but came close.

7. Venice Beach was a birdwatchers paradise (we also saw some alligators), but here in Marco Island at Tiger Tail Beach, it’s a shell collectors paradise.

9. To get to the beach we had to wade through bay water up to our waists and then walk through a narrow mangrove path.

10. People hung shells from the mangrove trees up and down the shoreline. Some wrote messages on the shells.

13. It was 79 degrees today, but sadly, even the gulf was a bit too cold to swim in (at least for me). We’ll try again tomorrow.
