"A blog is to a writer what a canvas is to an artist." ~ Colleen Redman

13: Window of Time

1. My husband juggles two phones and two laptops. “Next thing will be two wives,” I joked. “Three is ideal for juggling,” he answered. “Not an option,” I say.

2. I’m a nerd who spends hours taking and cropping pictures of frost on the window.  See more HERE.

3. I’ve always felt that the world of reflections was more interesting than the literal world, in the same way that physical reality seems to be the watered-down version of imagination. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated with shadows and reflections. I would gaze at mirror images of trees and clouds in a still pond and wonder which world was real. Why is it that we consider physical matter to be more real than shadows, reflections, or dreams?

4. Both sides now HERE.

5. Reality is a quantum leap / The future is a spectrum / where entropy meets possibility / the other side of the same.  Read Quantum Leap in its entirety HERE.

6. What’s it All About Alfie used to be my theme song. Now it’s Too Late to Stop Now (From Into the Mystic) by Van Morrison.

7. I used to buy cars where the seats go back all the way in case I was homeless and had to live and sleep in my car. Now I travel with a bathing suit in the back in case I stay at a hotel that has a pool. That’s progress.

8. These days my interest is in being more than doing.

9. Some of us will have second childhoods / Our car keys will be taken away / We’ll eat too much sugar / and walk around in one slipper / I’ve written this poem before / I’ve written this poem before / But I can’t remember the end – Read Second Hand Chance HERE.

10. It’s hopeful to note that we’ve gained about an hour of sunlight since the shortest day of the year, Solstice December 21.

11. Oh My My Oh Hell Yes – We put on our party dresses and tie-dye shirts.  It was the 38th anniversary show with The Kind at the Parkway Brewing Company in Salem. Everyone smiles and sings along to loved songs. It’s symbiotic reunion every time. More HERE.

12. I don’t believe / everything I’ve heard / I tinker and linger / I keep my word. -Read A Poet’s Word in its entirety HERE.

13. “When you’re writing, you’re trying to find out something which you don’t know. The whole language of writing for me is finding out what you don’t want to know, what you don’t want to find out. But something forces you to anyway.” James Baldwin

I read somewhere that we’ve now gotten through the darkest 10 weeks of the year. It’s all more light from here (until June).

My friend’s brother had Parkinson’s and he moved off into a realm of dreams and lived there for a few years before he passed away. My friend believed he had passed into a different place, not that he was mentally ill or anything. Where he was was certainly very real to him.

Wow!! I don’t think I could write 13 thoughts very often, five maybe? Thanks for peeking in on me, I don’t often write prose as I’m not very good using it instead of a poem. I do write fairly well.
I can’t believe your Number seven, you’ve coming a long way from that life. I think that I am going to hide a set of car keys when ever ‘they’ take the car away from my use. In Texas your doctor can do this by writing a status report on you to the state driving license office.
Number seven remind me of when my son became divorced and move out from his wife, ex to be. We asked him where he would be staying ‘now’ and he replied, “Don’t worry about me, I will sleep in my car.” I think that was the backwards way of asking if he could come to our house to live for a while. We answered appropriately and he lived with us for quite a while.
An aside, his ex died of a surprise heart attack. The drugs may have gotten to her.
