13: Proof of Winter
1. I don’t like poetry prompts like I didn’t like school homework, but I pay attention in class in both cases.
2. Just for fun: Bunny eating a snowman’s carrot nose off HERE.
3. “We are all going to come very close to closing out the year together, as close as we can get, which I think is 10 pm… Thank you for wearing your masks.” – More from Roasting 2020 Toasting 2021 HERE.
4. It’s no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then? -Alice in Wonderland
5. “The only thing of importance, when we depart, will be the traces of love we have left behind.” — Albert Schweitzer
6. I love having Albert Schweitzer and Alice in Wonderland mentioned together on the same page.
7. It was only the third time Joe has played Scrabble with me in the 30+ years we’ve been together. And what a game! More epic than the time we bought each other the same Christmas presents, the time I talked in my sleep and he answered me out loud from a dream or the time we took the same IQ test and ending up scoring the same number (for different reasons). More spooky entanglement, as Einstein would say. Synchronicity said Jung. See HERE.
8. Gumdrops, lollipops, icing and candy canes were some of the building details used on the Great Gingerbread House Contest entries, currently displayed at The Floyd Country Store and The Soda Fountain. Of course, gingerbread also figured in as a staple ingredient. And the winners of the Great Gingerbread Contest are See HERE.
9. So our first real snow on Christmas Day was too light and fluffy for snowman making, but I did find these two little guys (below) on a bench when I drove through town.
10. Winter days shrink / in a year that doesn’t fit / like wool in the washer / left to dry in the dryer/ when it wanted to be in the sun… Poem coming soon.
11. Past snow posts include: The Snow That Melted Before This Picture Appeared in the Local Paper, There’s No Business Like Snow Business, and When the Snow That Starts Falling is the Size of Corn Flakes I think about all the milk being sold at the grocery store.
12. This is Joe in his natural habitat.
13. Sometimes snow is for the birds.

So glad to discover your Blog via another Blogger I visit… Pandemic Lockdown Extended Stay can be so boring otherwise! Yes, it does border on wasting time to Blog and go on a virtual dumpster dive to see what turns up, but I Love it! Happy New Year.

All winter long we have a puzzle-in-progress. The tradition started when the boys were younger. With pals, they’d come in for hot cocoa after playing in the snow. I’d throw their wet clothes in the dryer while they sipped their drinks and worked on the puzzle. As soon as their clothes were dry, out the door they’d go. Love the pix!

I love reading Alice in Wonderland and Schweitzer on the same page. The air is starting to feel like winter over here.
